R E A D M E F I R S T September 9, 2003 The driver on this disk is not compatible with Version V205 or earlier versions. All versions after V205 may be used. In order to properly install this new driver, you must use the accompanying "Uninstall" program (on the CD) first. Please read the uninstall instructions first, before proceeding. We also recommend that you do a screen capture of your Maintenance screen, Maintenance Screen Advanced and the Status screen prior to updating. This information may be helpful to you in troubleshooting the printer in the future. Additional features of this new driver/firmware are: 1. Ability to calibrate printed length 2. Adjustment of ribbon torque to optimize printing. 3. Use of the white resin as an underlay color to be able to print full color images on non white surfaces. An instruction file on how to use this process is included. After the new driver and firmware have been installed, the following items may be calibrated to insure superior performance from your printer: Ribbon Torque: This setting will adjust the amount of torque placed on the ribbon during the print cycle. Incorrect torque settings may cause print artifacts to appear when printing. If you have purchased your printer after May 1, 2003, then you want to set your ribbon torque setting (Advanced Maintenance Screen) to a value of 100. Units that have been purchased prior to this date should have their torque settings set to 50. Image Length: The image length will calibrate the output of the printer to the exact measurements on the screen. In order to calibrate the printer, design a job with an 10" line. Print this job and carefully measure the line. Go into the maintenance screen - Advanced Settings and increase the Image length to lengthen the line as necessary. A Color Byte "Image Length Cal" file is available for you to use or you can create your own file.
